Julie - I left three bottles with Daniel today. The bottle marked with an "H" is your German hefe. The Bottle marked with an "A" is an all Amarillo hop IPA and the bottle with the "T" is the IPA I brew on AHA's Teach a Friend to Brew Day - it has some Victory malt to give it a biscuity backbone to match up to massive amounts of the west coast "C" hops. I hope you folks enjoy them:)

If I get motivated, I'll bottle up a couple of my brews to drop off to you folks on Friday when I visit.

Nice aroma, but you won't catch me drinking it! :-) I just kegged a proper Blonde style beer with a sum total of 1 oz of Willamette. I'm definitely not a hop head in my beer preferences. Daniel, on the other hand, just brewed a 5 GA all grain batch with 6 oz of hops. I won't be drinking that one either :-)

...and about the only positive side effect of all the smoke is that it is keeping our temperatures down here in the valley. Today it seems to be peaking at about 84 degrees - much more comfortable than it has been here recently. :)

There's actually a little breeze today that seems to be sweeping some of the smoke away. It's pretty common here in the valley to have an inversion layer that sort of puts a lid on our air and locks in the smoke and smog. Sad thing considering what a wonderful agricultural area I live in...

The brew went well (I just hit 85 degrees and put ice in the pre-chiller to drop the wort temp down to pitching temps), and I'm getting ready to drop the wort into carboys. Hopefully the nasty air today doesn't affect this brew. It does have a really nice aroma from all those Centennials:)

Smoke...it's pretty thick out here in Livermore and San Jose, and I hear that it's even worse in the central valley. I actually wonder if that will affect the taste of your beer, even with proper sanitation? I'll be curious to hear how this one turns out.
